Iveco has toured its distinctive Chammoth van around the UK, visiting 24 locations on its way to becoming something of a social media star.
Based on the Iveco Daily CNG, the Chammoth highlights the vehicle’s class-leading agility and strong truck-based chassis through, says Iveco, a furry design that represents a fusion of a cheetah and mammoth.
Iveco Chammoth: Supporting the Aspinall Foundation
Iveco pledged to donate £1 to The Aspinall Foundation for every social media post featuring an image of the Chammoth, along with the #Chammoth hashtag. Clearly linked to the animal kingdom, the furry Daily van was the perfect vehicle to raise money to help protect endangered species.
As well as sharing pictures of the van, the public was encouraged to get close to the Chammoth and test their skills by playing on the in-built coconut shy or colouring animal prints with sustainable pencils.
With 12 million users reached, the Chammoth became the social media star Iveco had hoped for, with 6,000 people sharing the #Chammoth tag during the tour. As promised, Iveco handed over a cheque for £6,000 to The Aspinall Foundation
at its partner park, Port Lympne, in Kent.
The conservation charity became the first organisation to rewild cheetahs born in the UK, with brothers Saba and Nairo heading back to their natural habitat in South Africa.
“We were blown away by the public interaction with the Chammoth and this generous donation that resulted,” exclaimed Samantha Bailey, sales, marketing and fundraising director for The Aspinall Foundation. “This sum will have a truly positive impact on our conservation programmes. It was also great to see so many people having fun with the Chammoth all over the UK.”

Iveco Chammoth: Iveco Daily CNG
Iveco has built the Chammoth around a Daily CNG powered by a 3.0-litre compressed natural gas engine, a technology Iveco has been leading for 25 years. Despite its eco credentials, it’s lost nothing of its capabilities, able to tow 3.5 tonnes without issue.
As if to prove the point, the Chammoth completed its mammoth 2,100-mile journey fuelled by renewable bio-methane sourced solely from waste products.
“Seeing the Chammoth come to life and the public engaging with it has been a lot of fun,” commented Lisa Fuller, brand marketing & communications manager at Iveco. “The UK tour highlighted the environmental benefits of CNG while also raising money for a truly worthy cause.”
