The Foton Tunland V9 is heading to the UK, with first customer deliveries expected in early 2027.

Alan Able, incoming managing director of Foton UK, confirmed to Professional Pickup that the Tunland will be introduced to Britain, joining the Cavan electric van.

While Able didn’t detail the precise model, Professional Pickup understands that the UK will receive the large Tunland V9.

It will become the fourth pickup imported by International Motors, joining the Isuzu D-Max, Mitsubishi L200 and GWM Poer 300 in an increasingly broad portfolio.

What is the Foton Tunland V9?

The Tunland V9 sits towards the lifestyle-focused end of Foton’s pickup range, combining imposing dimensions with a more sophisticated chassis and interior than the company’s work-focused models.

Versions sold in other markets use a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine supported by a 48V mild-hybrid system. The engine produces 163hp and 450Nm of torque and is paired with an eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox.

The V9 also uses a coil-sprung multi-link rear suspension rather than conventional rear leaf springs, suggesting that ride comfort and lifestyle appeal have been prioritised alongside its commercial capabilities.

At 5,617mm long and 2,090mm wide, the Tunland V9 is larger than most pickups currently offered in Britain.

Although Australian versions are rated with a payload of 995kg, Professional Pickup understands that the UK-market Tunland V9 will have a one-tonne payload, preserving its commercial-vehicle status for VAT purposes.

A towing limit of 3.5 tonnes should also be in place for UK-spec pickups.

Four pickups from International Motors

The Foton Tunland’s arrival will give International Motors four different contenders in the UK pickup market.

Alongside the established Isuzu D-Max, the company recently brought the Mitsubishi L200 back to the UK and has also launched the GWM Poer 300.

Pricing, UK specifications, dealer arrangements and the final model range are expected to be revealed before the end of the year.
