Peugeot is delivering on its longstanding partnership with Royal Mail, providing 2,100 electric vans to strengthen the UK’s green delivery fleet. The latest addition, which includes 1,100 British-built E-Partner models from the Stellantis plant in Ellesmere Port, marks a significant step in Royal Mail’s electrification plans ahead of the holiday season.
These vehicles are also the first in Royal Mail’s electric fleet to feature the royal cypher of King Charles III.
Since 2009, the partnership has evolved to meet Royal Mail’s environmental goals, with Peugeot first providing electric vans to the postal service in 2014. This new fleet upgrade aligns with Royal Mail’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2040, a goal they believe the additional electric vans will help reach by reducing an estimated 6,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually.
Royal Mail’s efforts include expanding its electric fleet and supporting it with a sustainable charging infrastructure. The vans will recharge using 100% renewable electricity at Royal Mail’s delivery offices, allowing Royal Mail to deploy over half the new vans in time for peak holiday demand.
Beyond electrification, Royal Mail has incorporated hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) as an alternative fuel for its heavy goods vehicles since June 2023, claiming a reduction in carbon emissions of up to 90% compared to diesel. This shift has already contributed to more than 30,000 tonnes of CO₂ savings.
Peugeot, the UK’s leading electric van brand as of September 2024, supplies a comprehensive range of 12 fully electric models, including three electric light commercial vehicles. The company remains committed to scaling up electric van production in the UK, aiming to lead among mainstream European manufacturers.

Eurig Druce, group managing director for Peugeot UK, said: “Peugeot is proud to continue supplying electric vans to Royal Mail, a partnership that has been ongoing since 2009, which is testament to the quality and reliability of our vehicles. Peugeot’s electric vans are built in Britain for an iconic British brand and we will continue to uphold this historic partnership and support Royal Mail’s electrification ambitions. Peugeot is equally committed to the electric transition, with the widest all-electric vehicle line-up of any mainstream European brand, while our leadership in electric van sales is proof of our technology and innovation in this market.”
“We’re proud that our latest tranche of electric vehicles has been produced at Peugeot’s Ellesmere Port plant,” added Greg Sage, Royal Mail’s deputy director for corporate affairs and ESG. “This is an important part of our work to expand the UK’s largest electric delivery fleet and to remain the UK’s greenest delivery company.”
