While it won’t be turning up at your local builder’s yard any time soon, the new Iveco Box Clever concept van shows what’s possible when you push the limits of an electric LCV platform.
Unveiled at the 2025 Commercial Vehicle Show within the EV Café Village, the one-off show van is based on the 7.2-tonne Iveco eDaily chassis cab — a heavyweight version of the all-electric eDaily aimed at operators with specialist or demanding bodywork needs.
Built in collaboration with Bodywork Solutions, the van features a six-metre lightweight composite box body. It’s been converted into a mobile events unit, complete with a hydraulically assisted side door, deployable steps, and an interior powered entirely by the eDaily’s electric power take-off (ePTO) system.
Inside, guests will find a large 85-inch QLED screen, a full VR simulator rig, and enough power outlets to keep laptops, tablets, and mobile phones topped up. The ePTO also feeds a PA system and interior lighting, all demonstrating the platform’s ability to support power-hungry accessories and custom conversions without a separate generator.
The showpiece vehicle is fitted with four modular batteries, offering a total capacity of 148kWh and a claimed range of up to 248 miles. Rapid charging from 20% to 80% takes around 45 minutes via a 115kW DC charger, while a quick top-up of 20 minutes can add 60 miles of range. To extend its capability further, a solar panel helps recover additional charge during extended stops.
While few fleet operators will ever need a VR racing rig or giant display screen, the concept highlights the flexibility of the eDaily platform. With the same body mounting points as the diesel Daily, it gives converters and bodybuilders a familiar starting point for building everything from welfare vehicles to minibuses or specialist trades applications.
Presumably holding a prompt card from Iveco, David Sims, director at Bodywork Solutions, said: “The eDaily takes up the mantle for those going electric — it even features the same body mounting points as the diesel model. The ‘Box Clever’ project is a big vehicle, but its class-leading turning circle makes it plenty manoeuvrable.”
“This eDaily is the ultimate proof of concept for what an all-electric box van can be,” added Mike Cutts, business line director at Iveco. “Its extensive use of ePTO, four modular batteries, and unique body means this ‘box of tricks’ is sure to draw a crowd at shows and events.”
The ‘Box Clever’ eDaily will be touring UK events throughout the year as part of Iveco’s outreach to bodybuilders, operators, and showgoers curious about the capabilities of its electric light commercial vehicle range.
