Iveco has unveiled significant upgrades to its eDaily electric van — launched just a year ago — with customers now able to choose between one and four battery packs for their revamped vehicle, up from the previous maximum of three.
Available on the 7.2-tonne GVW, 5100mm chassis cab models, the four 37kWh battery packs combine to provide 148kWh of energy, extending the WLTP-tested range to 149 miles.
The enhanced eDaily model now supports rapid charging at up to 115kW — up from the previous maximum of 80kW — which can deliver 62 miles of range after plugging in for just 20 minutes. The chassis cab variants also benefit from the added flexibility of an optional side-mounted charging port.
Iveco has upgraded the eDaily’s ePTO, increasing the power available from 15kW to 50kW, making it suitable for powering specialist equipment in missions as diverse as firefighting to gully cleaning.
The smaller eDaily 42S, with a 4.25-tonne GVW and drivable on a category B passenger car licence under current derogation legislation, now offers the option of Air-Pro pneumatic suspension. Iveco promises that the changes enhance comfort by smoothing out the ride and reducing body roll. It also includes a memory function to adjust and save the chassis height for more efficient loading and unloading processes.
Cabin Refresh
A revised dashboard is the most obvious visual update to the eDaily, but it’s more than a skin-deep refresh. Dominating the redesigned cabin is a 10.0-inch infotainment screen on higher-specification models, with a customisable digital instrument cluster for the driver across the entire range. The new system includes navigation via TomTom Live and allows for voice control of many functions in the van.
You’ll also find Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in place, wireless phone charging and both USB-A and more modern USB-C ports.
Tech Update
The unstoppable expansion of AI in all areas of life continues with the updates to the eDaily’s navigation systems, with Smart Routing features available through a new infotainment system or the eDaily Routing app, complemented by a dynamic digital driver’s display and an updated multimedia screen. Drivers can see the predicted range available, with the van advising on optimal times for intermediate charging based on AI-enhanced route and range calculations.
The Easy Daily App and Iveco On web portal have also been updated. Both allow remote control of functions of the Hi-Matic and Eco Mode settings, ensuring optimal fuel efficiency, and remote management of ADAS settings.
Price and Availability
It’s difficult to get a price from Iveco for the revamped eDaily, as the company operates in the commercially sensitive world of big business—you won’t find a price list published for its big trucks, either.
However, don’t expect any change from £60,000 for an entry-level model, with a four-battery, 7.2-tonne van likely to command a price tag more than double that.
