Iveco has produced its 1,800,000th Daily at the Suzzara plant in Mantua, Italy. This milestone vehicle, an all-electric Iveco eDaily, will join Tesco’s delivery fleet as part of the supermarket’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions.
The Iveco eDaily is one of the 571 electric home delivery vans deployed by Tesco. It features a modular two-battery setup designed to optimise payload and range, and supports rapid charging at 80kW. This adds 62 miles of range in 30 minutes, while a 22kW onboard charger allows for efficient AC charging at local stores.
Equipped with a refrigerated Solomon Commercials body, the van uses a 15kW onboard ePTO to cool perishable goods during deliveries. A second 12V ePTO provides additional cooling from the GAH Transport Refrigeration fridge, ensuring a fully self-sustaining zero-emissions vehicle.
“We’ve committed to moving towards a fully electric home delivery fleet across the UK by 2030,” explains Rob Smallwood, fleet manager at Tesco. “Taking delivery of Iveco’s 1,800,000th eDaily will help us get closer towards reaching our commitment to be carbon neutral in our own operations by 2035.”

The Suzzara facility is renowned for its light vehicle manufacturing excellence. Since 1978, the factory has adjusted to a continuously evolving Daily. The plant has operated under a production system aiming for zero faults, wastage, and accidents, emphasising continuous improvement since 2007, and involves every operator in the process.
Ongoing improvement to the Iveco Daily means it continues to meet diverse customer needs, especially in the high-payload segment with its 7.0-tonne model, and leads the natural gas light commercial vehicle sector. The Daily now offers more sustainable transportation solutions thanks to a fully electric lineup.
Fulvio Carillo, Iveco Suzzara plant manager, added: “The milestone achieved testifies to the success of our Daily, a vehicle produced at our Suzzara plant for over 45 years. This enduring success highlights the growing market presence of a commercial vehicle that has set new standards of innovation. Its strengths lie in its versatility and efficiency, qualities that have been repeatedly recognised throughout its history. We take immense pride in this achievement, knowing that the Daily has earned popularity among customers who value its exceptional versatility, durability, and distinctive performance.”
Mike Cutts, Iveco’s business line director in the UK and Ireland, said: “This is a fantastic achievement for Iveco Daily, and one that highlights how this mission-focused vehicle is delivering for its operators. Tesco has been a longstanding Daily customer, with a new fleet of eDaily providing the same mission capability without compromise.”
