Mitsubishi has confirmed that the L200 pickup will be returning to the UK in the summer of 2026, ending speculation around the model’s future and marking a key moment in the brand’s re-entry to the market.
The L200 will launch alongside the all-new Outlander PHEV SUV, with both models initially arriving in limited numbers as Mitsubishi resumes UK sales.
While the L200’s return had been expected following Mitsubishi’s confirmation of a UK comeback, today’s announcement provides the first firm confirmation that the pickup will form part of the relaunch line-up — a significant move given the model’s long-standing presence in the UK market.
First introduced to the UK in the mid-1980s, the Mitsubishi L200 has built a strong following among trades, rural users and fleets, with cumulative UK sales exceeding 180,000 units across six generations.
The new Series 7 L200 will be the most capable version yet, according to Mitsubishi, and arrives at a time when brand recognition and proven durability still carry weight in the pickup sector, despite recent tax changes affecting double-cab models.
The latest-generation L200 is already on sale in global markets and features a redesigned exterior, a significantly updated cabin, and a heavily revised drivetrain.
Diesel power and advanced 4WD
Power comes from an extensively reengineered 2.4-litre two-stage bi-turbo diesel engine, with Mitsubishi confirming increases in both power and torque over the previous model. Full UK figures have yet to be released, but the Australian market model produces 204hp and 470Nm of torque.
The Series 7 L200 is fitted with Mitsubishi’s Super Select 4WD-II system, offering selectable two- and four-wheel drive modes, centre differential lock, low-range gearing, and seven drive modes: Normal, Eco, Gravel, Snow, Mud, Sand and Rock.
This keeps the L200 aligned with Mitsubishi’s long-standing reputation for four-wheel-drive systems and off-road capability.
The L200’s confirmation strengthens Mitsubishi’s UK relaunch plans, particularly for IM Group, which already imports the Isuzu D-Max and GWM Poer 300 pickup. The addition of the L200 gives the importer another established nameplate with strong awareness among UK buyers.
Mitsubishi has previously stated that its UK return will be supported by more than 100 aftersales locations, with dedicated retail sites now being appointed ahead of the 2026 launch.
Sharon Townsend, Head of Mitsubishi Motors in the UK, said the L200 remains a “much-loved and respected” model, adding that the latest version brings “significant design, technology, and performance upgrades over its predecessor.”
Mitsubishi L200: Pricing and availability
Pricing, specifications, and final UK on-sale timings for the Mitsubishi L200 will be confirmed closer to launch in 2026, but expect a price slightly higher than those of the GWM and Isuzu models also being sold by IM Group.
