Mitsubishi will return to UK sales in summer 2026, less than five years since the brand withdrew from the UK, with importer International Motors (IM Group) set to reintroduce new models from the manufacturer’s global line-up. The announcement has immediately reignited interest among pickup buyers, especially around the possible return of the Mitsubishi L200.
Speaking to Professional Pickup following today’s announcement, Mitsubishi confirmed that a number of models are under consideration for the UK, and that the L200 is among them.
While not yet confirmed, the inclusion of the L200 in that shortlist is significant. Mitsubishi’s pickup remains one of the most recognisable nameplates in the UK, with a strong heritage among trades, fleets and rural operators. With a new generation already on sale in global markets, the timing aligns neatly with Mitsubishi’s 2026 relaunch.
Despite the tax changes earlier in the year, the UK remains a major pickup market. IM Group already imports both the Isuzu D-Max and the new GWM Poer 300 pickup, and will build on Mitsubishi’s existing network of more than 100 aftersales locations with dedicated retail sites now being appointed ahead of the brand’s relaunch.
While the importer won’t yet be drawn on specific product plans, a Mitsubishi Motors UK spokesperson told us that Mitsubishi is “not in a position at this time to confirm which new vehicles will be coming to the UK, but more news on this should be communicated before the close of this year.”
The brand has highlighted that its returning models will showcase Mitsubishi’s strengths in four-wheel-drive technology, off-road capability, and engineering — qualities that align closely with the L200’s traditional customer base.
If Mitsubishi wants a model that instantly reconnects it with UK buyers, particularly in a sector where its reputation is already solid, the L200 is the obvious candidate.
IM Group says more information, including model names and timings, will be confirmed before the close of this year.
