Ford Pro has revealed the first look at the next-generation E-Transit Courier. A new design from the ground up, the Courier is being shown as an all-electric commercial vehicle first, although petrol and diesel options will go on sale first.
The E-Transit Courier expands Ford’s range of electrified and connected vans, seamlessly integrating with the Ford Pro platform of software and connected services. This integration allows for streamlined operations, including comprehensive charging solutions and management tools provided by Ford Pro software.
To maximise productivity, the E-Transit Courier has been reimagined with a larger, more versatile cargo area, offering a 26% increase in load volume compared to its predecessor. It also boasts improved capabilities, such as a higher payload capacity and room for two Euro pallets.
As part of Ford’s $50 billion global effort to lead the electric LCV revolution, the E-Transit Courier is the latest addition to the company’s electrified Transit family, joining the E-Transit and E-Transit Custom models in Ford’s lineup.

“E-Transit Courier moves its segment up a level with uncompromised EV performance, higher load capacity and fully connected support, including end-to-end charging solutions, Ford Pro E-Telematics and uptime-boosting FORDLiive,” said Hans Schep, general manager, Ford Pro, Europe. “Ford Pro’s long-standing market leadership gives us unrivalled insight into customers’ needs and means we can help them get big productivity from their compact vans with more connectivity and capability than ever before.”
Ford E-Transit Courier: Electric Drivetrain and Charging
The E-Transit Courier is driven by an electric powertrain featuring a 100kW (136hp) motor and one-pedal driving capability.
While Ford remains tight-lipped on battery capacity and range, we expect the new van to be fitted with a 74kWh battery pack that will be good for around 270 miles before needing charging.
Expected to be popular among customers who charge at home, the E-Transit Courier should be able to charge in under six hours on an 11kW home charger — quick enough to ensure it’s fully charged after being plugged in overnight. Users can schedule charging to take advantage of lower overnight energy rates through the in-vehicle touchscreen or depot charging software.

Users will be able to charge the E-Transit Courier on public rapid chargers at rates of up to 100kW, with Ford estimating that this system will add 54 miles of range in 10 minutes. That’s quick enough to charge the battery from near-empty (around 10%) to 80% in under 35 minutes. E-Transit Courier buyers will also receive a year of complimentary access to the BlueOval Charge Network, which is expected to cover 500,000 public chargers by 2024.
Businesses with fleets of five or more vehicles can benefit from one year of complimentary access to Ford Pro E-Telematics’ tailored features. This system utilises live data to help maximise productivity and provide intuitive support for Ford Pro Charging. Features include current charging status, vehicle-specific state of charge, and remaining range with customisable low-range alert thresholds.
The Plug and Charge feature allows E-Transit Courier owners to simply plug in and walk away when using compatible BlueOval Charge Network chargers. Charging begins automatically, with a bill and charge summary sent to the owner upon unplugging — the cloud-powered Intelligent Range feature aggregates data to deliver more accurate range estimates.
Ford Transit Courier: Diesel and Petrol
The Transit Courier range will launch without electric power, relying on the 1.0-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines, offering 125hp and 100hp, respectively. Both will be fitted with a six-speed manual gearbox, with the more powerful petrol engine available with an optional seven-speed automatic transmission.

Ford E-Transit Courier: Customer-focused design
The exterior design of the E-Transit Courier is a departure from the regular wedge shape of modern vans, with a striking bonneted body and a spacious, practical interior. The new model has an extensive standard equipment package, including unique cabin features such as a “squircle” steering wheel design for improved legroom and driver visibility. A column-mounted gear shifter, push-button ignition, and electronic handbrake provide increased configurable storage space.

The “digiboard” instrument panel features a 12.0-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.0-inch infotainment touchscreen equipped with Ford’s latest SYNC 4 software. The subscription-based Connected Navigation enhances productivity and reduces driver workload by providing updates on traffic, parking, charging, and local hazards, while wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility is provided as standard. The innovative Office Pack includes a foldaway flat work surface and lighting, making it easier and more comfortable to use a laptop, fill out paperwork, or take a break in the cab.
“The new E-Transit Courier is a clean-sheet design that puts Ford Pro’s cutting-edge technologies and hard-working nature into a compact, modern van,” said Amko Leenarts, design director, Ford, Europe. “The front end emphasises its toughness and capability, while the visor-like windscreen and high belt line give it a trustful stance. The spacious cabin is designed to declutter drivers’ days and be a connected, productive sanctuary to help them get the job done.”
Ford E-Transit Courier: Payload and Practicality
E-Transit Courier’s all-new body design delivers increased load capacity in all dimensions. The width between the rear wheel arches is 1,220mm, enabling the compact van to carry two Euro pallets for the first time. Total cargo volume is now 2.9m3, up 26% over the outgoing model. This can be further increased using the new load-through bulkhead feature, which enables customers to carry items such as planks or pipes up to 2,600mm long. The maximum payload for the all-electric model is 700kg, with a maximum towing weight of 750kg.

Under the bonnet, the E-Transit Courier hides a 44-litre frunk ideal for holding small items like charging cables and a first aid kit. A full-height steel bulkhead is standard on all panel van models, with a mesh-protected bulkhead window and load-through hatch available as an option. Customers can also specify mid-height cargo rails to help secure larger items.

The petrol and diesel Transit Courier models offer a standard payload of up to 678kg, and a High Payload option that increases maximum carrying capability to 845kg. Maximum trailer weight is 1,100kg for diesel models and 1,000kg for petrol models.

Ford E-Transit Courier: Security and Saftey
Operators can benefit from enhanced vehicle security alerts for collisions and break-ins via Ford Pro Software, and with Fleet Start Inhibit, fleet managers can remotely enable and disable the van to help prevent theft or unauthorised use outside of work hours.
To improve security without the time and cost of aftermarket solutions, Ford partnered with vehicle security experts TVL to offer factory-fit lock packs for E-Transit Courier. The packs include secondary hook locks to mitigate against “peel and steal” attacks, as well as auto-locking for the sliding side door to reduce driver workload and shave seconds off each delivery.

Driver safety is critical, and the E-Transit Courier sets a new standard in the segment with its extensive suite of advanced driver assistance systems, including automatic emergency braking, automatic high beam, driver fatigue alert, front and rear parking sensors, lane-keeping assist, a rearview camera and traffic sign recognition. An optional bundle offers even more, such as adaptive cruise control with lane centring and stop & go, blind spot alert and cross traffic alert, intersection assist, and reverse brake assist for increased peace of mind during urban driving.
Ford E-Transit Courier: Pricing, Cost of Ownership and Availability
Prices for the E-Transit Courier aren’t available yet, but Ford expects running costs to be significantly lower than the outgoing model, with non-scheduled maintenance costs to be at least 35% lower than on diesel-powered models.
The new van is backed by the same comprehensive Ford Pro Service network – including an expanding Mobile Service capability, the unique FORDLiive connected uptime system and Europe’s largest dedicated commercial vehicle dealer network – as the rest of the Transit family.

The all-new E-Transit Courier will make its public debut at the Commercial Vehicle Show
in Birmingham on April 18-20. Production of the E-Transit Courier is set to begin in late 2024, with petrol and diesel models available for order in summer 2023 and delivery scheduled before the end of the year.
