Euro NCAP, the independent vehicle safety testing organisation, has released its latest safety ratings
for commercial vans, with Ford, Volkswagen, and Farizon achieving the highest accolades.
The updated Ford Transit, the new Volkswagen Transporter, and the Farizon SV — a large electric van from Geely’s Farizon Auto — have all been given a Platinum award, Euro NCAP’s highest standard.
Ford Transit: Platinum Record
The latest Ford Transit becomes the fourth model in Ford’s commercial lineup to achieve a Platinum rating, joining the Transit Custom, Transit Connect, and Transit Courier. The recently revised Transit features enhanced driver assistance systems such as Pre-Collision Assist with Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Keeping Alert, and Intelligent Speed Assist — technology Euro NCAP described as being on a par with modern passenger cars.

“The safety of drivers and cargo is the number one priority for businesses across Europe,” said Hans Schep, general manager of Ford Pro Europe. “Euro NCAP Platinum awards for our entire Transit lineup are the ultimate recognition of how seriously we take safety at Ford Pro.”
The Transit achieved an overall score of 95% across the six evaluated categories, including maximum scores for Occupant Safety Monitoring and Lane Support Systems.
Farizon SV is Highest Rated Chinese Built Van
The Farizon SV, arriving in the UK market in early 2025, also earned a Platinum rating. Scoring 85 points, it demonstrated strong performance in active safety systems, with a 95% rating during Autonomous Emergency Braking tests and perfect scores in Lane Support and Occupant Status Monitoring systems.

“The Farizon SV was designed and engineered to meet or exceed European standards in every regard, including safety, and this result is testament to the rigorous testing and development process undertaken by the Farizon team,” explains Andy Carroll, country manager at Jameel Motors Farizon Auto. “Van users and fleets of today and tomorrow can choose the Farizon SV with utmost confidence.”
Stellantis Vans Achieve Gold Standard
The Stellantis medium van range, including the Citroen Dispatch, Fiat Scudo, Peugeot Expert, and Vauxhall Vivaro, received Gold ratings, placing them just below the top tier. These vans demonstrated strong safety performance but fell short of the Platinum threshold.

Growing Emphasis on Van Safety
Since expanding its ratings to commercial vans in 2021, Euro NCAP has assessed over 95% of vans available in Europe. The organisation’s testing underscores the importance of safety features in vehicles integral to businesses and logistics operations.
