According to recent sales figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, Citroen’s Berlingo van is the top-selling small van in the UK this year.

Year-to-date, the Berlingo has sold 4,175 units. Its appeal among small and medium-sized enterprises and as a fleet vehicle contributed to its position as the best-selling small van in the UK last year, with 14,065 units sold.

Citroen sold 7,867 vans in the first quarter of 2024, a slight increase from the 7,568 registered in the UK in the same period in 2023 — the second-best performance across Europe, behind only the brand’s home market of France.

The Berlingo is part of Citroen’s updated van lineup, including the micro Ami Cargo, medium Dispatch, and large Relay models. All these models, including fully electric versions, are now available to order, expanding Citroen’s range of electric commercial vehicles in the UK.

The e-Berlingo model is produced at Ellesmere Port, the UK’s first EV-only volume manufacturing plant. Starting in 2025, limited production of the e-Dispatch will occur in Luton, where combustion engines are also manufactured. Citroen and its affiliated Stellantis brands remain the sole manufacturers of volume light commercial vehicles in the UK.

Greg Taylor, managing director of Citroen UK, commented, “Berlingo Van’s position as a segment leader is a testament to our commitment to providing practical and comfortable commercial vehicles for our customers. With our new van range now open for orders, we offer the broadest electric LCV range on the market, made to meet the needs of every user.”
