Toyota and Stellantis, the umbrella under which the Citroen, Peugeot and Vauxhall brands sit, are extending their commercial vehicle partnership, with a new large van arriving in 2024 under the Japanese company’s badge.
Little more than a bit of badge engineering, the new offering will, as you might expect, be based around the Citroen Expert, Peugeot Boxer and Vauxhall Movano trio of large vans. Expect identical proportions, cargo capacity and payload limits when the new Toyota van arrives, where it will sit alongside the Proace and Proace City to round out the line-up.
The partnership extends the current collaboration; the Toyota Proace City shares DNA with the Citroen Berlingo, Peugeot Partner and Vauxhall Combo, while the larger Proace is closely related to the Citroen Dispatch, Peugeot Relay and Vauxhall Vivaro triumvirate.

Matt Harrison, president and CEO at Toyota Motor Europe, commented: “We are pleased that we can extend this successful partnership through the introduction of a new large-size commercial van. It represents an important addition and completes our light commercial line-up for Toyota’s European customers.
“The new LCV will represent a key contribution to Toyota’s growth targets for its overall LCV line-up, alongside the Hilux pick-up, Proace and Proace City, enabling Toyota to provide a mobility solution in all segments of the LCV market.”
The new model is set to be built by Stellantis at its plants in Gliwice, Poland, and Atessa, Italy. Alongside the diesel-powered options, a fully electric offering will be made available too.
Carlos Tavares, Stellantis CEO, added: “Operational excellence is by definition recognized in this expanded deal. With this third successful engagement, Stellantis is further demonstrating its expertise in the commercial vehicle segment and in developing battery electric technology built to support a full range of needs.
“This agreement strengthens our leadership in the EU30 for LCVs and low emission vehicles and moves us a step closer to realising our Dare Forward 2030 goal of becoming the undisputed global light commercial vehicle leader, in terms of technology, manufacturing, market share and profitability.”
The Toyota-badged models, as with all other models in its range, will be covered by a warranty that extends, subject to some conditions, up to ten years. As well as the renowned Toyota Professional backup, the warranty gives a clear differentiator between the Toyota model and its closely related Stellantis cousins.
