Toyota is taking the crossover trend to extremes, marrying the rugged capabilities of the Hilux pickup truck with the racing credentials of its Super GT race cars to create the Revo GR Sport.

Destined only for the Thai market, the Revo GR Sport is a Hilux that’s been lowered and lightened. With just two-wheel drive, the ‘Lo-Floor’ model sits on 17-inch alloy wheels with low-profile tyres, leaving the truck around 23mm closer to the ground.

The Revo GR Sport is powered by the same 2.8-litre turbo diesel engine that you’ll find in the Hilux Invincible models in the UK. It produces 204hp and provides 500Nm of torque, all going to the rear wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission.

With that much power to only the rear wheels, the police will likely frown upon the shenanigans that will undoubtedly ensue, including smokey burnouts and epic drifts. ventilated disc brakes are fitted to the front to bring any action to a stop, highlighted with red brake calipers emblazoned with the GR logo.

Should the Revo GR Sport stand still long enough, you’ll notice a significant set of cosmetic additions that provide “added sleekness” in the “style of Toyota Gazoo Racing cars.”

LED headlights and taillights are fitted to each model, surrounding a new design of front grille and sitting above unique bumpers and a full side skirt kit. Black mirror covers, a shark fin antenna and countless GR graphics, logos and badges finish off the look.

The interior receives a sporty upgrade, including a red and black colour scheme with smoke silver accents, perforated suede upholstery with red stitching, and panels covered in artificial leather. Aluminium pedals boost the “sports car” link, with GR emblems are dotted around the cabin hammering home the point.

I’m very impressed by GR sport which offers great agility and responsive handling even at high speed.

If you want to experience and enjoy the Hilux Revo GR Sport, then you’ll find it on sale exclusively in Thailand for 889,999 Thai Baht. That works out at a little under £20,000.
