Miele is amongst the first customers to receive an individualised Volkswagen ID Buzz Cargo, following the concept reveal at the IAA show in September.
The German manufacturer of domestic appliances and commercial equipment has taken delivery of five customised ID Buzz Cargos, personally handed over by Carsten Intra, CEO of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles and Lars Krause, Board Member for Marketing and Sales.
“The entire year has been dedicated to the ID Buzz,” says Carsten Intra. “I am pleased that the time has finally come for transferring the vehicle to our customers and having it run on the roads. For a long-term partner like Miele, who has been using our Bulli vans as its service vehicles practically from the start, we definitely wanted to present these first five ID Buzz Cargo vehicles in person.”
A joint development between Volkswagen and Miele, the bespoke ID Buzz Cargo vans have been converted in a partnership between Würth and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. The cargo space receives a factory-installed conversion with shelving systems for stowing materials, replacement parts and tools, while a centre console with an integrated folding table serves as the driver’s workstation.
The first batch of vehicles will provide valuable knowledge for future optimisation and extension of the customer-individualised product and lead to further electrification of the Miele service fleet.
With the new all-electric vans from Volkswagen, Miele is edging closer to converting its fleet to renewable energy sources. “We set a goal of reducing the CO emissions of our vehicle fleet by at least 30% by 2030,” explains Rebecca Steinhage, Executive Director of Human Resources and Corporate Affairs at Miele. “The ID. Buzz is a great choice as an all-electric variant for our fleet, and we are already looking forward to receiving more ID Buzz vehicles next year.”
Miele will use its first vehicles for customer service duties across Europe, including Germany, Spain, Norway, Austria and the UK.
