The Mercedes-Benz X-Class is available in three specification options; Pure, Progressive and Power. What’s the difference between them? We look at what comes as standard across each model, and highlight the differences.

Mercedes-Benz X-Class Pure Specification

The Pure is the entry-level X-Class but it is far from basic. On the outside, the Pure looks slightly utilitarian, with just 17-inch steel wheels, black plastic bumpers, door handles and door mirrors. It lacks heated mirrors, although fog lights are included.

On the inside, however, there is air conditioning, central locking, 12v sockets, a reversing camera, cruise control and a range of safety equipment such as hill start assist, traffic sign recognition and lane-keeping assist. Infotainment is provided by the Audio 20 system which includes a CD player, satellite navigation, DAB radio, Bluetooth, steering-wheel-mounted controls and a 7.0-inch touchscreen display.

Progressive models are a lot easier on the eye thanks to 17-inch six-spoke alloy wheels, chrome handles, body-coloured door mirrors and bumpers and heated door mirrors. On this inside, there isn’t a huge improvement with just heated front seats, carpet flooring and a leather steering wheel and handbrake added.

On the flagship Power trim, customers also receive a more luxurious set of 18-inch six-spoke alloy wheels, chrome detailing on the grille and fog lights, LED lights, a chrome bumper at the rear, Artico man made-leather upholstery (heated in the front) and an eight-way adjustable driver’s seat.

Common upgrades on the X-Class include a rear diff lock (£490), the Command satellite navigation system (£2,225), all-season tyres (£130) and the nut-brown leather interior (£890).
