The UK’s first all-electric pickup truck is available to order now, with the Maxus T90EV price tag starting from £49,950 before VAT.
Introduced at the CV Show in April, Maxus has seen 1,000 orders for the T90EV placed already, before final specifications and pricing has been available.
Buyers can look forward to a truck fitted with a stainless steel sports bar, side steps and 17-inch alloy wheels, with automatically operated halogen headlamps with LED daytime running lights. Inside, the T90EV will be fitted with a 10.25-inch infotainment screen, electrically adjustable front seats, manual air conditioning and a reversing camera.
Maxus T90EV: Electric Range and Charging
Powered by a 204hp electric motor, driving only the rear wheels, the T90EV’s 88.55kWh battery pack will provide a range of up to 220 miles, according to official WLTP testing.
The Type 2 and CCS charging options provide flexibility when out and about. Using a rapid charger at rates of up to 80kW, charging from a low 20% battery state to 80% – providing an additional 132 miles of range – will take around 45 minutes.
A regular home charger will perform the same charge, at a significantly lower cost, in under 7½ hours.
Maxus T90EV: Payload and Towing
Maxus has increased the payload limit since its introduction in April, now reaching 1,000kg. Towing limits are lower than regular diesel-powered rivals, with the T90EV limited to 1,500kg. With a gross train weight of 4,050kg and a kerb weight of 2,300kg, it won’t be possible to fully load the truck and trailer.
The cargo box measures 1,485mm long, 1,510mm wide and 590mm deep, making it virtually identical to the Isuzu D-Max’s load area.
Maxus T90EV: Off-Road Ability
Being limited to just rear-wheel drive, the Maxus T90EV won’t be venturing through the Darien Gap, but ground clearance of 190mm and a wading depth of 550mm means it should cope with light off-roading duties.
Maxus T90EV: Pricing and Availability
The Maxus T90EV starting price will be £49,950, excluding VAT and delivery. Dealers can take orders now, with the first deliveries expected in early 2023.
