Isuzu India Launches Ambulance Version of the D-Max Pickup • Professional Pickup

Isuzu Motors India has introduced the D-Max Ambulance, a purpose-built vehicle designed to support emergency medical services across the country. This ambulance promises reliability, durability, and comfort to support healthcare providers in patient transport and urgent response situations.

Powered by Isuzu’s 1.9-litre RZ4E turbocharged diesel engine — the same engine found in UK models — the D-Max Ambulance delivers 163hp and 360Nm of torque. Its robust performance enables quick acceleration, critical for timely responses in emergencies. Built on the rugged iGRIP platform, the vehicle is equipped for both urban and rural terrains, featuring a Hi-Ride suspension system that ensures stability and a smoother ride for patients and medical teams.

Commenting on the launch, Mr Toru Kishimoto, deputy managing director of Isuzu Motors India, said: “We are excited to present the Isuzu D-Max Ambulance, our unique product designed for the Indian market, with 14+ ‘Best-in-Class’ features. Isuzu Motors India continues to strengthen its position as a game changer in the automotive industry, delivering quality products that are both innovative and tailored to the unique demands of the Indian market.”

The design focuses on practicality and comfort. The shorter wheelbase, high ground clearance, and tight turning circle make it highly manoeuvrable, even in congested areas. Inside, the cabin features ergonomic seating, adjustable headrests, and air conditioning to keep the driver and co-driver comfortable during long shifts.

The patient compartment is thoughtfully designed, offering a spacious and hygienic environment. The interior is lined with rust-free materials for durability and ease of maintenance. Fixed rear doors, a built-in ramp for stretchers, and sliding side windows improve accessibility and ventilation. Ample storage and efficient lighting allow medical teams to work effectively on the move.

Externally, the vehicle is equipped with warning lights, flashers, and a PA system for visibility and communication during emergencies. It also includes external storage for oxygen cylinders and essential equipment, while interior provisions for medical supplies are within easy reach.

The Isuzu D-Max Ambulance offers a reliable and ready-to-use solution for healthcare providers, and with a price tag of ₹25,99,990 (around £24,300), it will make UK buyers sick with envy.
