Ford has introduced a modest update to the E-Transit Courier, centred primarily on a small increase in battery capacity and improved onboard connectivity.

The most tangible change is a battery upgrade from 43kWh to 46kWh, a relatively minor increase that nevertheless nudges the official driving range upward. Ford now quotes a maximum range of 207 miles, a 10% improvement over the previous figure.

That additional capacity is unlikely to transform real-world usability, but may offer incremental benefits for operators running tighter duty cycles or higher loads.

Charging performance largely unchanged

Despite the larger battery, charging times remain broadly similar to those of the previous model. Ford says that drivers can add approximately 70 miles of range in 10 minutes when connected to a 100kW DC rapid charger, while a 10–80% recharge takes around half an hour under ideal conditions.

For depot charging, replenishing the battery from 10–80% takes just over three hours with an 11kW AC charger, or under five hours with a typical 7.4kW home charger.

As before, preconditioning functions allow the cabin and battery temperature of the E-Transit Courier to be managed while the vehicle remains plugged in, preserving driving range once underway.

Pro Power Onboard benefits from extra capacity

The slight increase in battery capacity also extends the usable duration of Ford’s Pro Power Onboard system. The Courier’s 400W output, accessed via a dashboard-mounted 230-volt socket, remains aimed at lighter-duty electrical needs such as charging tools, laptops or smaller equipment rather than high-draw site hardware.

While not a headline feature, the system continues to appeal to trades and service operators who value integrated power without carrying separate battery packs.

Connectivity upgrade brings 5G modem

Elsewhere, the updated E-Transit Courier now adopts a 5G modem, replacing the previous connectivity hardware. The change supports faster data transmission for navigation, charging location services and remote vehicle functions, although day-to-day differences for drivers are likely to be subtle outside areas with strong coverage.

Ford continues to expand public charging access through its Electroverse partnership, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of European charging networks.

Safety system revisions

Ford has also revised the van’s Driver Alert System, expanding its ability to monitor driver behaviour and detect potential signs of impairment such as distraction or drowsiness. As with many modern assistance features, effectiveness will depend heavily on operating conditions and driver acceptance.
