Iveco has supplied five electric eDaily waste collection vehicles to Lewes District Council as part of the council’s move towards an all-electric urban refuse fleet.
The new vehicles are 4.25-tonne Iveco eDaily models on a 4,100mm wheelbase, specified for urban waste and grounds maintenance duties. According to the council, the switch forms part of its wider ‘Environment First’ waste strategy and longer-term net-zero commitments.
Each eDaily is fitted with three modular batteries, providing a claimed driving range of up to 186 miles. That comfortably exceeds the vehicles’ typical duty cycle, with the council estimating annual mileage of around 10,000 miles per vehicle — or just over 38 miles a day, assuming a five-day working week. The batteries are mounted within the eDaily’s truck-based chassis, allowing the refuse body to be fitted without reducing payload.
The waste collection bodies were supplied by Terberg Matec and are powered via the eDaily’s low-voltage electric power take-off (ePTO), removing the need for additional batteries or auxiliary generators. Safety equipment includes a 360-degree camera system, audible reverse warning and enhanced front and rear lighting.
Inside the cab, the specification focuses on driver comfort and usability, with heated and electrically adjustable mirrors, a suspended driver’s seat, and a 10-inch infotainment system with navigation.
Lewes District Council worked with Northern Commercials on the Iveco eDaily’s specification, with a focus on safety, productivity and total cost of ownership. The vehicles are covered by an eight-year or 100,000-mile battery warranty, alongside a repair and maintenance package and 24-hour servicing support.

The electric waste trucks were also named winners in the ‘Grounds Maintenance and Waste Management’ category at the 2025 IVECO Mission Awards.
