Renault is renewing its all-electric LCV range, starting with the Kangoo Van E-Tech Electric and this, the updated 52kWh Master E-Tech Electric, for even more flexibility and freedom.
Renault’s large electric van, the Master Van E-Tech Electric 52kWh, has been given a new 52kWh battery, increasing its WLTP-certified range to as much as 124 miles.
Renault Master E-Tech: Powertrain
The Master E-Tech features a 76hp electric motor suited to urban and semi-urban driving, making the van an ideal candidate for last-mile deliveries.
An Eco mode limits maximum power and speed. An adaptive regenerative brake system maximises the amount of recovered energy regardless of the selected braking regime, and low resistance tyres ensure drivers can extract the maximum range from the larger battery pack.
Recharging can be carried out via a 7.4kW home or workplace charging unit, which will take five hours to reach 80% charge. Faster charging is available using the onboard 22kW charging unit, allowing for rapid charging at public facilities. Using a suitable charger, 31 miles of range can be added to the vehicle in 45 minutes.
Renault Master E-Tech: Payload and Practicality
Renault is making the Master E-Tech 52kWh available in 15 different versions, covering three lengths, three roof heights, and three GVW limits – 3.1t, 3.5t and, later in the year, 3.8t.
The four van versions offer a cargo volume of 8 to 15m3. The two ‘cab-floor’ versions come in either L2 or L3 and are ideal bases for flatbed, dump or large volume conversions that can carry up to 20m3.
The full-electric version boasts the same cargo space as its diesel-powered counterpart, with one of the largest storage volumes in its category.
Renault Master E-Tech: Cabin Equipment
The innovative concepts from the regular Renault Master are carried over to the E-Tech models. This includes the ‘Easy Life’ shelf above the glove box that opens up with a simple push providing additional workspace, a lunch break area equipped with a large central cup-holder, and a large 10.5l ‘Easy Life’ drawer.
You’ll also find a wireless smartphone charging pad, a digital tablet docking station in the centre section of the dashboard, and Renault’s R-link Evolution infotainment system.
A reversing camera with a display on the upper section of the windscreen provides a clear mid and long-range view from the back of the van. Safety is also boosted by the addition of lane departure warning, rear parking assistance, parking sensors all around, and automatic lights and wipers.
Side wind assist activates above 44mph and corrects up to 50% of the vehicle’s lateral movement in extreme driving conditions. Finally, automatic emergency braking is available on city roads and highways.
Renault Master E-Tech: Pricing and Availability
Pricing hasn’t been announced yet, but we expect to see a price tag starting from around £45,000 plus VAT, with all models eligible for the government’s Plug-in Van Grant
. First customer deliveries are due in September.
