Isuzu has added the Commercial version to the latest D-Max 2.2 pickup range, aimed at business users who want the tax advantages of a commercial vehicle while retaining the four-door Double Cab body.
The Isuzu D-Max 2.2 Commercial is available in DL20, DL40 and V-Cross specifications, with prices starting from £34,745 plus VAT.
Unlike a conventional double-cab pickup, the Commercial version has its rear seats and seat belts removed. In their place, Isuzu fits a solid bulkhead with a mesh viewing screen behind the front seats, a flat phenolic floor and a rear cab protection panel with a mesh vision panel into the load bed area.
The rear door windows are darkened, while a Commercial badge identifies the converted model.

The changes mean the D-Max 2.2 Commercial qualifies as a fully commercial vehicle for Benefit-in-Kind and capital allowance purposes. That gives it a clear role following tax changes that have made conventional double-cab pickups less attractive for company vehicle users.
Alan Able, managing director of Isuzu UK, said: “The new Isuzu D-Max 2.2 Commercial further extends the D-Max pick-up range with both practical and financial benefits.
“The commercial variant joins the Single, Double and Extended Cab options launched earlier this year, and expands the pick-up’s appeal across broad commercial, utility and agricultural environments.”
The Commercial version uses the same new 2.2-litre bi-turbo diesel engine as the rest of the latest D-Max range, producing 163hp and 400Nm of torque.
It also retains the D-Max’s key working credentials, including a payload of more than one tonne and a 3,500kg towing capacity.
Four-wheel drive is standard, with Isuzu’s shift-on-the-fly system allowing the driver to move between high-range two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive at speeds of up to 62mph. Low-range four-wheel drive, a rear differential lock and Rough Terrain Mode are also standard across the range.
Buyers can add a bedliner, towbar or canopy either when ordering the vehicle or through Isuzu’s aftermarket accessories programme.
