Isuzu has used the Commercial Vehicle Show 2026 to launch the updated D-Max 2.2 in the UK, with the revised pickup due to reach dealers from July.
The biggest change is under the bonnet, where a new 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine has replaced the long-serving 1.9-litre diesel. It produces 163hp and 400Nm of torque, with buyers able to choose between a new eight-speed automatic gearbox and a six-speed manual.
That extra torque should be the key improvement in everyday use, particularly for towing and load carrying. The D-Max 2.2 retains its 3.5-tonne braked towing capacity, while payload starts from 1,010kg and rises to 1,205kg depending on model.
Four-wheel drive remains central to the package, with a shift-on-the-fly system that allows drivers to switch between two- and four-wheel drive at speeds of up to 62mph, while Rough Terrain Mode and a rear differential lock are standard across the range.
The line-up continues to cover Single Cab, Extended Cab and Double Cab body styles. Utility models are available in Single and Extended Cab form, DL20 remains Double Cab only, DL40 is now offered in both Extended and Double Cab versions, and the range still tops out with the V-Cross.
Styling changes for the 2026 model year are fairly modest. There is a redesigned front grille, new lighting details, revised side steps on DL40 and V-Cross models, and a new Urban Moss metallic paint option. Higher-spec versions also gain a new 360-degree surround-view camera system.
There are some smaller but worthwhile changes underneath as well. New Dunlop low-rolling-resistance tyres are said to improve fuel efficiency by 7% and wet-surface grip by the same amount, while new safety features include Advanced Driver Distraction warning and Emergency Lane Keeping through a Driver Monitoring System.
Inside, Isuzu has revised the seat designs and trim materials, with upgraded cloth on the DL20 and leather standard on DL40 and V-Cross models.

Prices start from £33,495 CVOTR for the Utility 4×4 Single Cab, rising to £42,995 for the V-Cross 4×4 Double Cab Automatic.
