Sales of Stellantis vans doubled in July compared to the same month last year. Total registrations for the month for Vauxhall, Peugeot, Citroën and Fiat increased by 130% from 3,700 to 8,510, giving parent company Stellantis almost a third of the UK light commercial vehicle (LCV) market.
The French firm dominated the compact van market, with the Peugeot Partner topping the sales lists, with the Citroen Berlingo and Vauxhall Combo in second and third place. The Citroen Berlingo is the best-selling small LCV of the year so far, with 9,218 vans finding new homes between January and July.
For the year to date, Vauxall remains the best-selling van brand overall, with sales of 3,664 vans, according to figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders
. It also tops the electric van charts with the Vivaro Electric, registering 575 in July and 2,964 new vehicles so far in 2023 — more than one in four of all new electric vans.
James Taylor, managing director at Vauxhall, said: “It’s a significant achievement that more than a quarter of electric vans sold in the UK this year is a Vivaro Electric, highlighting the model’s versatility and continued popularity with private buyers and businesses of all sizes looking to electrify their fleets.”
Tony Lewis, Stellantis LCV director, added: “Stellantis led the LCV market in July in the UK. With our two van manufacturing plants based in the UK and us being well ahead of the UK Government’s deadline for the move to electric LCVs, we’re extremely proud to be supporting our businesses to move to a future that is all electric.”
