It’s not every day you see a pickup truck become part of a fitness challenge, but that’s exactly what happened at this year’s Britain’s Fittest Farmer competition, where contestants were tasked with hauling a Volkswagen Amarok as part of the final showdown.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has once again supported the annual contest, which highlights the importance of both physical and mental wellbeing in the farming community.

The 2025 final was held at The Farmer’s Dog in Chipping Norton, where competitors faced a series of gruelling challenges. For the first time, these included an “Amarok pull” alongside a demanding assault course designed to test strength, speed and endurance.

Winners were crowned across four categories: Emily Meakin (women under 40), Ben Squibb (men under 40), Anne Grindal (women over 40) and Richard Storr (men over 40).

Laura Bignall, Brand and Performance Marketing Manager at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, said: “We’re immensely proud to sponsor such a great event, which celebrates strength, resilience and community, while helping to bring into focus the importance of physical and mental wellbeing, especially for those working in an industry as demanding as farming.”

Alongside the competition, visitors had the opportunity to take a closer look at the Volkswagen Amarok, a pickup truck that combines everyday practicality with off-road capability, a 3.5-tonne towing capacity, and the latest driver safety technology.
