Vauxhall was the best-selling electric van brand in 2022, with its eLCV sales giving the manufacturer the honour for the second year running.
Sales were particularly strong compared to the 2021 figures, with registrations increasing by 73%, according to data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders
(SMMT). With an electric version of every one of its vans available to buyers, the company’s 5,038 registrations reflected the flexibility offered by the Combo Electric, Vivaro Electric, and Movano Electric vans.
The mid-sized Vivaro Electric accounted for most registrations, with 4,212 of the electric version of Vauxhall’s best-selling van finding new homes. This success made the Vivaro Electric the best-selling electric van overall for the second year in a row.

“Electric van sales grew significantly in 2022 and will continue to grow next year, as more businesses and fleets look to cut their emissions and running costs,” said James Taylor, Managing Director, Vauxhall. “It’s a testament to the breadth and quality of our all-electric LCV range that the highest share of businesses and private buyers opted for an electric Vauxhall van for the second year in a row.”
While still relatively small, accounting for 5.9% of registrations, the electric van market is growing rapidly. Vauhall’s Stellantis-owned stablemates at Citroen, Fiat and Peugeot offer identical electric vans, while partners Toyota make the same models available with their own badge on the front. The Ford E-Transit has gained the most attention, but the likes of the LEVC VN5, Renault Master E-Tech, Mercedes-Benz E-Spriner and Maxus eDeliver 3 and eDeliver 9 show there’s a growing demand for emission-free commercials.
