Toyota is getting ready to reveal the next-gen Hilux pickup, and the teaser shots suggest we weren’t too far from the truth with our early details.
Calling it a ‘next generation’ might be stretching it, though, as this is expected to be more of a substantial facelift than a clean-sheet redesign.
The teaser images showcase the Hilux’s new LED headlights and a heavily sculpted bonnet, but give little else away. What you can’t see, and what we expect to appear, is a few updates on the outside and a heavy refresh of the interior.
The rear bumper will incorporate a step on the side, like Ford has done with its Ranger, making life much easier for those leaning into the load box. The tailgate will also get an update, while the front end gains an entirely new Land Cruiser-esque fascia.
Inside, expect a floating 12.3-inch infotainment screen to dominate the cabin, with a more modern dashboard design as Toyota extends the Hilux’s life by a few more years.
The 2.8-litre engine with a 48V mild-hybrid system is expected to become the only engine option, with the unloved 2.4-litre unit removed from the lineup. An electric option is expected to break cover before the end of the year, to compete with the electric Isuzu D-Max EV we’ve recently driven.
Much of the remainder will stay the same, with the new model sharing the same ladder-frame chassis, cab structure, doors, and roof panels as the existing Hilux.

Despite the heavily updated Hilux being imminent, sales of the existing model are going well, with 2025 looking like it might be the best year for the Hilux since the turn of the millennium.
Toyota has yet to reveal prices or specifications of the new model, but will reveal all on 10 November. Expect a rise in prices, though — we imagine the Invincible X will reach around £42,000 plus VAT.
