The Deepal E07 Multitruck is a coupe, camper, and pickup all in one • Professional Pickup

While it won’t be arriving on UK shores anytime soon, the Deepal E07 Multitruck — a shape-shifting SUV–pickup hybrid — is still worth a look for anyone keeping tabs on where electric pickups might go next.

Arriving in Australia this autumn, the Deepal E07 has gone all-in on the idea of a flexible, do-it-all platform. From the outside, the E07 sits somewhere between a coupe-SUV and a lifestyle pickup, but inside it leans heavily into the luxury lounge vibe. The vehicle features zero-gravity massage seats, a rotating 15.4-inch infotainment screen, ambient lighting, a full-width panoramic roof, and camping-specific interior modes.

The talking point, however, is its transformable rear. The cargo section can switch from enclosed SUV for day-to-day family use to open pickup mode at the press of a button.

Cormac Cafolla, general manager of Deepal Australia, described it as “the automotive multi-tool,” something that can tackle school runs, mountain trails, and B&Q hauls all in the same day.

The flat load area features a fold-flat tailgate, but with a payload limit of just 300kg, it won’t be replacing a hard-working Isuzu D-Max. Deepal — a subbrand of Changan Auto — isn’t targeting professional users, but it offers an interesting glimpse into how Chinese manufacturers are thinking differently about what a pickup can be.

Performance is punchy. Rear-wheel drive models get a single motor producing 342hp and 365Nm, good for a 0–62mph time of 6.9 seconds. The dual-motor all-wheel drive version takes that to 598hp and 645Nm, with a supercar-rivalling sprint time of just 3.9 seconds.

Both versions use a large 90kWh battery, with ultra-rapid charging that can add up to 215 miles of range in 15 minutes (based on the rather generous NEDC testing cycle). Official range is up to 399 miles.

In Australia, prices start from AU$64,900. That’s roughly £33,000 at current exchange rates, but don’t expect to be able to order one here anytime soon.
