Tesco has placed an order for 750 Maxus eDeliver 9 chassis cabs, representing the largest single electric vehicle order to date for Maxus in the UK.

Deliveries are scheduled to begin in February 2026 and will follow 232 eDeliver 9 models that are already entering service throughout 2025. The new vehicles will feature bodywork produced by Solomon, with refrigeration systems supplied by Thermo King and GAH.

The vans will form part of Tesco’s electric home delivery fleet as the company works towards its target of operating a fully electric fleet by 2030. The supermarket chain began working with Maxus in 2019 on an early concept vehicle and has since added increasing numbers of eDeliver 9s to its operation.

Maxus said the new agreement represents a continuation of that relationship, adding that the eDeliver 9 has proven capable of meeting Tesco’s operational requirements in multi-drop urban logistics. Rob Smallwood, Fleet Services Operations Manager at Tesco, said the order would support the company’s “journey to carbon neutrality across our operations.”

The Maxus eDeliver 9 is the manufacturer’s largest electric van and is offered in panel van, minibus and chassis-cab configurations. Power comes from a 150kW (204hp) electric motor with a quoted WLTP range of up to 219 miles. Rapid charging via a 120kW DC connection enables an 80% recharge in around 45 minutes.

With a gross vehicle weight of 4,250kg, the eDeliver 9 chassis cab supports a payload of up to 1,900kg, depending on body configuration. Maxus says the vehicle includes a full suite of driver assistance features and the brand’s “Intelligence Onboard” telematics system, which allows fleet monitoring and driver analytics in real time.

The company said its partnership with Tesco would continue to focus on reliability, cost efficiency and sustainability as it supplies vehicles into the retailer’s delivery fleet over the next two years.

The Tesco deal is expected to strengthen Maxus’s 2.1% share of the UK van market. With 5,469 new registrations so far this year, the brand describes itself as a ‘growing force in the commercial vehicle market’.
