Expansion of the Ford Ranger line of pickup trucks continues with the limited-edition Wolftrak being added to the model list.
Adding practical touches and enhanced style to the Ford Ranger, the Wolftrak promises to tread a fine balance between a commercial-use vehicle and a lifestyle-enabling personal pickup, and is expected to find fans in the farming, forestry and outdoor pursuit industries as well as private buyers.
Ford Ranger Wolftrak: Specification Upgrades
Built around the work-ready double-cab Ranger XLT, the Wolftrak adds some cosmetic upgrades to project a tough, rugged presence.
A long-leg tubular sports bar, exclusive to the Ranger Wolftrak, adds a dash of style while also supporting accessory fitment and easy load restraining.
Conquer Grey paint creates a purposeful no-nonsense dynamic, with a matte black grille, sidesteps, underbody protection and 17-inch black alloy wheels completing the colour scheme. A darker Sea Grey paint option, as seen on the Ranger Thunder, is also available.
The cabin receives a matte black instrument panel and door spears, and a smattering of Wolftrak badges. Durable all-weather floor mats add a practical touch, while Ford’s Sync 3 infotainment system brings Bluetooth connectivity, navigation and both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, all accessible via an 8.0-inch touchscreen.
Ford Ranger Wolftrak: Cargo Upgrades
The Ranger’s 1.0-tonne payload capacity remains in place, as does the 3.5-tonne towing rating, ensuring the Wolftrak will appeal to commercial users. The long-leg sports bar provides plenty of mounting options for accessories, while external tie-down points make securing bulky loads easy.
A protective bed liner is fitted as standard. A manual load bed cover or Aeroklas canopy are available as extra-cost options, both presented in matte black to match the Wolftrak’s darkened exterior detailing.
Ford Ranger Wolftrak: Powertrain
Sharing the same 2.0-litre EcoBlue diesel engine as the XLT model, Wolftrak’s powertrain produces 170hp and an impressive 420Nm of torque. Combined with a selectable four-wheel-drive system with a low-range option, an electronically locking rear differential and rugged all-terrain tyres, the Wolftrak should get you through all but the stickiest of situations.
Both a six-speed manual and a slick-shifting 10-speed automatic gearbox option are available.
Ford Ranger Wolftrak: Pricing and Availability
Ranger Wolftrak will be built in limited numbers to guarantee exclusivity and is expected to arrive at Ford dealers across Europe from October 2021. Prices have yet to be announced, but we expect the Wolftrak to sit somewhere between the XLT and Limited models, meaning a price tag of around £27,000 plus VAT is likely for the manual model, with an additional £1,400 or so if fitted with an automatic gearbox.
