Nissan has issued a recall of its Navara pickup due to a potential issue with the child locks that could see the rear doors opening even with the locks in use.
Vehicles built between 28 September 2015 and 14 March 2018 are affected, with models beyond the Navara pickup truck being included in the recall. At risk is the Pulsar, Note, Juke and Qashqai models built in the same period.
According to the notice issued by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission in Ireland, Nissan “has established that the child lock on the rear doors could be faulty and it might be possible to open the door even when the child lock is activated.”
Nissan is proactively encouraging Navara owners to bring their vehicles in for a quick inspection.
The UK’s vehicle recall database shows that the Navara faces “possible reduced retention force of the Rear Door Child Lock switch.” The problem can be resolved by the fitment of a countermeasure part into the child lock door switch aperture, ensuring that the system operates as it should.
