Ford has boosted its E-Transit electric van with a larger battery pack, extending its range to as much as 249 miles.
Europe’s best-selling large electric van will be available with an 89kWh battery pack — a 30% increase in capacity from the 68kWh fitted to the standard range model — and faster charging performance, improving the vehicle’s capabilities for customers in multiple scenarios.
Chagrin speeds have increased significantly, with the updated E-Transit able to charge at a rate of 180kW, up from 115kW. With a suitable rapid charger, a ten-minute top-up can add as much as 72 miles of range, while a 10–80% charge will take as little as 28 minutes.
Home or depot chagrin capability has also been improved, with a built-in 22kW charger allowing a full overnight charge to be completed in under six hours.
The extended range option comes with a heat pump as standard to heat the cabin more efficiently in low temperatures. The vapour-injected system is similar to that on the E-Transit Custom — the first electric vehicle to use the technology — and is designed to improve energy efficiency and optimise range in colder weather.
Updates to the E-Transit include improved digital features, including an integrated 5G modem, over-the-air software updates, and built-in Alexa AI.
Ford Pro Integration
As with all other E-Transit vehicles, the extended-range model is fully integrated with the Ford Pro platform of connected charging and software solutions, which promises to help customers optimise energy management, streamline servicing, and minimise downtime and cost of ownership.

Comprehensive Model Lineup
Ford is ensuring the extended range E-Transit can cover various customer missions, making the van available in 19 model variants. L3 and L4 body lengths will be fitted with van, double-cab-in-van, and chassis cab body styles, with gross vehicle weights from 3,500 to 4,250kg. Maximum payload will range from 1,460kg for vans to 1,814kg for chassis cab models, ready for converters to take advantage of the flexibility.
Pro Power Onboard is also available to deliver 2.3kW of exportable power from the vehicle battery to run tools, equipment and conversions.
Ford E-Transit Extended Range Price and Availability
The upgraded extended-range E-Transit won’t be available to UK customers until 2025, with pricing revealed later this year.
However, all buyers of the 2024 Ford E-Transit will benefit from a new two-year, unlimited-distance service interval — a significant upgrade over the current one-year interval.
