Isuzu Reveals Uncompromising Electric D-Max Pickup Concept • Professional Pickup

After we first heard of an electric D-Max development last year, Isuzu will unveil a concept version of its battery-electric pickup at this month’s Bangkok International Motor Show.

The Isuzu D-Max EV Concept promises to maintain the brand’s reputation for rugged ability and reliability while combining these with the environmental benefits of electric power.

Isuzu assures us that the D-Max BEV (battery electric vehicle) will boast a one-tonne payload and maintain its 3.5-tonne towing capacity despite the extra weight of batteries under the chassis. The D-Max BEV will also have a full-time four-wheel drive system with newly developed e-axles in the front and rear, offering exceptional performance on rough terrain.

Power comes from a 66.9kWh lithium-ion battery pack, driving an electric motor developing 177hp (130kW). Instant torque from the powertrain will ensure snappy performance, while a maximum speed of 81mph means there’s enough grunt for the pickup to keep pace on the UK’s roads.

Isuzu D-Max EV: Price and Availability

The D-Max EV Concept on show in Bangkok is not too far removed from the production vehicle. European markets are expected to receive the pickup first, and expansion into the UK, Australian, and Thai markets will follow soon after.

Pricing is a long way from being confirmed, but don’t expect any change from £50,000 plus VAT.
