Businesses purchasing a new electric van from Ford can add a home charger bundle to their package for just £10. Aiming to ease the transition to electric for small businesses, Ford’s deal includes a home charge point with standard installation, a five-year warranty, and 12 months of complimentary access to Ford Pro’s home charging software.
This offer is available with Ford’s latest electric van models, the E-Transit Custom and the E-Transit, which are designed to bring practicality and savings to commercial operations.
Mandy Dean, Ford’s UK director for commercial vehicles, highlighted the company’s commitment to supporting businesses through the shift to electric: “A tough business climate and the switch to electrification mean our customers need all the help they can get. Our new bundled billing offer can save time and money for businesses going electric, and Ford Pro’s full support under one roof can help every kind of customer work out what the best solution for them looks like.”
Ford’s all-in-one home charging solution aims to simplify the experience for small businesses that rely on recharging work vehicles from home. The charger offers up to 22kW speed and 4G connectivity, enabling convenient features like scheduling charges for cheaper energy periods and sending reminders if the vehicle isn’t plugged in. This connectivity is particularly useful for drivers looking to optimize costs through energy tariffs that offer cheaper overnight rates.
A recent study by the Centre for Economic and Business Research found that while 13% of large fleets had already transitioned to electric vans, only 2.2% of sole traders had made the switch. Ford hopes to make the benefits of electrification more accessible to small firms, which comprise 99.9% of UK businesses.
Beyond the £10 offer, Ford highlights potential long-term savings for operators. Compared to diesel, electric vans can reduce operating costs by over £11,500 in energy and maintenance over three years. At current energy rates — roughly 25p per kWh — a full charge of the E-Transit Custom costs just £15.68, covering up to 209 miles.
Ford’s support extends beyond home charging with access to the BlueOval Charge Network, offering 800,000 public charging points across Europe for longer trips. This support network, along with the UK’s Plug-In Van Grant providing £5,000 towards new electric van purchases, aims to make Ford’s electric solutions more attractive and affordable for small business owners.
Ford has electrified its entire Transit range with an electric or plug-in hybrid version of the Transit Courier, Transit Connect, Transit Custom and Transit. Ford’s Ranger pickup will also receive a plug-in hybrid model next year, followed by a fully electric version in 2027.
