Dacia has confirmed that the Duster Commercial will be arriving in the UK, with a price tag on the SUV-based van starting at just £12,795.

Based on the passenger version of Dacia’s SUV, the Duster Commercial adds more versatility and capability to an already practical package. Homologated as an N1 commercial version, the Commercial builds on the Duster’s rugged and resilient nature by adding a tough, hard-wearing flat load area, offering 1,623 litres of space and up to 503kg payload capacity.

Dacia Duster Commercial: Cargo Area and Payload

Converted to an LCV in Dacia’s factory in Mioveni, Romania, technicians replace the rear seats with a completely flat wooden load floor covered with a hard-wearing surface. A sturdy mesh bulkhead is added to safely separate the load area from the front passenger compartment, while a series of lashing eyes make it easy to secure loose cargo.

A full-length removable load cover keeps the cargo bay’s contents shielded from prying eyes, aided by the opaque film applied to the fixed rear windows. Finally, rubber mats add extra protection.

The load area is accessible through the rear hatch, with no sill to lift cargo over and allowing easy access to the 1,623 litres of space on offer. A bay length of 1,792mm, with a width of 1,247mm and a floor-to-ceiling height of up to 917mm means bulky loads can be accommodated without too much difficulty.

Depending on the model, a maximum payload of between 463 and 503kg will be offered. Towing limits for braked trailers are set at 1,500kg for all models, with unbraked limits ranging from 630 to 750kg.

Dacia Duster Commercial: Engines and Drivetrain

An offering of four engines will be available in the Duster Commercial, with three petrol options and one diesel engine.

The petrol range starts with a three-cylinder 1.0-litre engine, labelled TCe 90, that provides 90hp and 160Nm of torque. A larger 1.3-litre four-cylinder model, the TCe 130, increases power to 130hp, with torque rising to 240Nm. Both are paired with a six-speed manual gearbox and offer official economy figures of 45.6mpg.

An uprated version of the larger engine, the TCe 150, boosts power to 150hp, with a slightly higher torque output of 250Nm. Power goes through a six-speed automatic gearbox, helping it achieve the same economy figures as the lower-powered models.

Diesel users are catered for by a 1.5-litre Blue dCi engine that develops 115hp and 260Nm of torque at 2,000rpm, with economy figures reaching as high as 57.6mpg.

All petrol-powered models are front-wheel-drive, while diesel buyers get the choice of front or four-wheel-drive.
