Uncertain campers can now try the Volkswagen Caddy California for a week before committing to buying thanks to a ‘Try Before You Buy’ scheme launched this week.

Potential customers can borrow a Caddy California from Volkswagen for £499, with no obligation to buy. Happily, if the customer then goes on to purchase the new compact camper, the £499 fee will be discounted from the price.

The Caddy California offers variable living, sleeping and storage space for everyday life and travelling. It features a foldable bed, with cup springs and a high-quality mattress, which stores in the parcel shelf and opens out above the rear seats. There’s enough seating for five, and the second row is entirely removable for complete flexibility. A standalone tail-tent, available as an accessory, provides additional living space and a sleeping compartment.

A retractable mini-kitchen extends from the rear with a single-burner cooker and integrated gas bottle. There are ample storage compartments for holding cutlery and kitchen utensils, while California camper chairs and a table come as standard too.

The Caddy California completes Volkswagen’s camper line-up alongside the T6.1-based California and Crafter-based Grand California, providing an option for all budgets.
