Volkswagen has opened UK order books for the Amarok Dark Label, a new special edition combining the pickup’s V6 diesel engine with an extensive black styling package.

Priced from £47,870 excluding VAT, the Dark Label joins the existing Amarok Style, PanAmericana and Aventura trim levels.

The mechanical specification is familiar, with Volkswagen’s 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel producing 240hp and 600Nm. It’s paired exclusively with a 10-speed automatic gearbox and permanent 4MOTION all-wheel drive.

A locking rear differential is fitted as standard, too, while Volkswagen quotes a payload of more than 1,000kg.

What does the Amarok Dark Label add?

Most of the changes are cosmetic. Gloss-black trim is applied to the roof rails, rear styling bars, side steps, mirror housings, bumpers and door handles.

The X-shaped front fascia, grille insert and front skid plate also receive a black finish, while new matte-black 20-inch alloy wheels complete the makeover.

Buyers can choose from metallic black, metallic blue or metallic grey paint, with all three colours available at no additional cost.

Inside, the Amarok Dark Label features black ArtVelours microfleece upholstery. The standard equipment list includes a 10.0-inch digital instrument display and 12.0-inch central infotainment screen.

More practical additions include a factory-fitted load liner and sliding load cover, both of which are likely to be more useful to working operators than the darkened exterior trim.

The Amarok Dark Label is also covered by Volkswagen’s impressive 5+ Promise at no additional cost. The package provides five scheduled services, three MOT tests, a five-year warranty and five years of roadside assistance.
