Rezvani has previewed its next over-the-top creation, the Fortress, an extreme tactical off-road pickup that looks rather more suited to a zombie apocalypse than a building site.

The California-based company describes the Fortress as the “ultimate tactical off-road truck”, which should give some clue as to where this sits in the pickup market. This is not a rival for a Ford Ranger, Toyota Hilux or Isuzu D-Max in any meaningful working sense. It is, however, a very large and probably very expensive pickup-shaped curiosity that should appeal to anyone who thinks normal trucks are a bit timid.

Full details are being held back until the Fortress is unveiled in June, but Rezvani has opened reservations, with customers able to place a $500 (£375) refundable deposit to secure a build allocation of one of the expected 100 units.

Rezvani hasn’t confirmed the vehicle underneath the Fortress, but a lot of the lines and sizing suggest it could be based on the Ford F-150 Raptor R. Rezvani founder Ferris Rezvani has suggested the truck will produce up to 850hp, and the standard F-150 Raptor R produces 720hp from its supercharged 5.2-litre V8, so only a little recalibrating would be needed to reach the higher figure.

As with Rezvani’s other models, the Fortress will be available with an optional armoured package. The company hasn’t detailed what will be included, but Rezvani’s existing models can be specified with features such as armoured body panels, bullet-resistant glass, run-flat tyres and security-focused extras that sound like they belong in a spy film rather than a pickup brochure.

That should make the Fortress one of the most extreme pickup conversions on sale, although “on sale” is doing a lot of work here. Pricing has not yet been announced, and it is unlikely to be remotely sensible. For context, Rezvani’s Dark Knight SUV conversion added around $150,000 (£112,000) to the cost of the donor Lamborghini Urus (which starts at £208,000), so anyone hoping for Ranger Wildtrak money is likely to be disappointed.

The teaser images released so far show a heavily reworked dual-cab pickup body with a squared-off profile, narrow lighting signatures and the sort of aggressive surfacing that makes even a Raptor look subtle. Rezvani’s design language has never been shy, and the Fortress appears to follow the same path as its Tank, Vengeance and Hercules models, all of which lean heavily into military-inspired styling.

There’s no word yet on payload, towing capacity, load bed dimensions, fuel economy, homologation or whether it will ever be offered in right-hand drive. Even if it were available in the UK, its size, cost and likely running costs would place it firmly in the toy box rather than the toolbox.
