Factory-backed Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups arrive as GM launches UK operation • Professional Pickup

General Motors has officially launched its GM Specialty Vehicles (GMSV) operation in the UK, bringing factory-backed American SUVs and pickup trucks to British buyers for the first time.

Most notably for pickup customers, the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra are now available to order with full UK homologation and manufacturer support.

Factory-backed rather than grey import

Large American pickups have long been available in the UK through specialist importers, but typically without direct manufacturer involvement.

The GMSV launch changes that, with vehicles supplied directly by GM and backed by a three-year unlimited-mileage warranty, with the option to extend cover by a further two years. Buyers will also have access to approved finance and nationwide servicing support.

Initial deliveries will be handled via Clive Sutton in London, which becomes the first GMSV franchise partner in the UK, with GM stating that a wider retailer network will follow.

Silverado and Sierra join official UK line-up

The UK-market range includes the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500, as well as large SUVs such as the Cadillac Escalade and GMC Yukon.

While UK pricing has yet to be announced, the move positions GM’s full-size trucks as officially supported alternatives to existing grey imports and to rivals such as the Ram 1500.

For UK buyers considering full-size US pickups, whether for towing, specialist work, or lifestyle use, the availability of a manufacturer warranty and homologation support could prove significant.

A niche but established market

Demand for large American pickups in the UK remains modest but consistent, particularly among customers seeking high towing capacities, V8 powertrains and premium interiors not commonly found in European-market trucks.

Whether GM can realistically establish a broad national dealer footprint remains to be seen, but even limited official representation reduces some of the risk historically associated with importing US-market vehicles.

Orders are open immediately via GMSV.uk, with the first vehicles already being processed for the UK market. Initial deliveries are expected in the spring.
