Citroen has opened orders for its new e-C3 Van, with an asking price of £17,535. The van promises to be a compact, fully electric commercial vehicle for city-based operators and small businesses seeking to reduce running costs and emissions without compromising practicality.
Based on the recently launched e-C3 passenger car, the van version features the removal of rear seats to create a flat load floor, accompanied by a full-height mesh and solid bulkhead, as well as a mid-height load cover. That creates up to 1,220 litres of usable space, or 730 litres with the load cover in place, and a load area measuring 1.2 metres long and 1 metre wide at floor level. The payload is rated at 300kg.
Citroen says the e-C3 Van is ideal for urban and suburban delivery work, thanks to low running costs, compact dimensions, and a 200-mile range (WLTP) from its 44kWh battery — some 60 miles more than its closest rival. Rapid charging at speeds of up to 100kW allows a 20–80% top-up in around 26 minutes, providing a 120-mile range boost and helping to keep downtime to a minimum.
The e-C3 Van is based on the ‘Plus’ trim level of the e-C3 car, so equipment levels are generous. Features include Advanced Comfort seats, Citroen’s signature progressive hydraulic cushion suspension, a 10.25-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a head-up display, LED headlights, rear parking sensors, and cruise control. It rides on 17-inch steel wheels with plastic trims, chosen to keep refurbishment costs down.
Key Citroen e-C3 Van rivals
The e-C3 Van slots neatly between two key rivals in the ultra-compact electric van segment. At the lower end is the Dacia Spring Cargo, priced from around £15,000. It offers a similar 186-mile range and a higher 370kg payload, but it’s more basic inside and limited to just 1,000 litres of load volume. At the other end is the Ford E-Transit Courier, a more conventional electric van with a payload of up to 698kg and the same 186-mile range, but with a starting price of around £27,000.
Citroen e-C3 Van price and availability
The e-C3 Van is available to order now from £17,535 before VAT and OTR charges. It’s eligible for the government’s Plug-in Van Grant, which currently reduces the price by an additional £2,500. There is only one model available, in Plus trim, with an options list limited to paint colours, a faster onboard charger for AC charging, and a puncture repair kit.
Citroen now offers three electric commercial vehicles with starting prices under £30,000, with the e-C3 Van sitting alongside the e-Berlingo Van and the Ami fitted with the optional My Ami Cargo Kit.
