Renault Trucks has opened a new training academy in Whetstone, Leicestershire, to support the development of apprentices and technicians working on both internal combustion and electric vehicles.

The Renault Trucks UK Training Academy provides accredited training programmes that combine practical workshop experience with classroom learning, ensuring that technicians are equipped to work with modern truck technology, including the growing demand for electric vehicles.

The academy has already welcomed a new intake of apprentices recruited through its new apprenticeship partner, GTG. They will join existing apprentices in learning specifically on Renault Trucks vehicles. The company has targeted at least 20% of technicians across its dealer network to come through its apprenticeship programme, reinforcing its long-term commitment to training and staff development.

Designed and refitted by the Volvo Group Real Estate team in partnership with MCS, the new facility includes workshop space capable of accommodating up to seven vehicles and static engine and component rigs for practical training. There are also four classroom spaces, preparation and printing rooms for trainers, and a range of amenities, including a kitchen, showers, and a break-out area complete with a games console and table football.
