Maxus will soon introduce the T60 Max, a diesel-powered alternative to its electric T90 EV pickup. With a starting price of £34,995 plus VAT, the T60 Max is set to arrive in February 2025, aiming to appeal to those who still prefer diesel over electric.
Maxus is making this move in response to concerns from customers and dealers about the availability and reliability of EV charging infrastructure. The diesel T60 is not seen as a major growth driver but rather a stop-gap for customers not yet ready to embrace full electrification.
While introducing a diesel model may seem like a departure from Maxus’s electric-only focus, the company remains firmly committed to an electric future. In fact, over two-thirds of the 6,000 vehicles Maxus registered in the UK last year were electric. The diesel T60 Max is intended to complement this strategy, targeting customers who are not quite ready to switch to electric but want to take advantage of Maxus’ value.

Diesel Drivetrain
While it was expected that the T60 Max would be equipped with the same 2.0-litre diesel unit fitted to the Deliver 9 van, we now understand that UK models will be fitted with a twin-turbo diesel engine delivering 215hp and 500Nm of torque, and promising fuel economy of 31mpg.
This engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission from ZF and features, unlike the T90 EV, four-wheel drive as standard, making it more adaptable for tasks that require off-road capability and significant towing power.

High Specification
The T60 Max comes fully loaded with tech and features front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, and adaptive cruise control to aid in various driving conditions. The interior has dual 12.3-inch display screens, supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. For comfort, the pickup includes a heated steering wheel and heated, electrically adjustable front seats.
The T60 Max maintains a payload capacity of 1,050kg, ensuring VAT reclaim eligibility even when fitted with a canopy, and it offers a 3,500kg towing capacity. The gross train weight is rated at 6,350kg, meaning it won’t be possible to carry the maximum payload while towing a fully loaded trailer.
