Renault Trucks had a successful 2023, with the manufacturer delivering almost 70,000 vehicles, nearly 30% of which were in the light commercial sector.

The firm’s growth has been almost exclusively in the LCV sector, with the 29,026 vehicles registered representing a 46% increase over 2022’s total.

Electric vehicle deliveries improved by 278%, rising to 1,012 units for the year. Two new electric LCVs, the Renault Trucks E-Tech Trafic and E-Tech Master, will arrive in 2024 and are expected to ensure the upward trend continues.

In the UK, Renault Trucks performed impressively, registering 3,421 3.5-tonne vehicles in 2023, up from 2,256 a year before—an increase of more than 50%.

With the manufacturer now assembling cargo bikes at its plant in Lyon-Vénissieux, France, it offers the widest range of electric vehicles on the European market, from 650kg to 44 tonnes.

Renault Trucks range saw a sales surge in 2023

“Renault Trucks ended 2023 with a total of 69,859 deliveries, up 18%. A solid commercial performance that allows us to continue the transformation of our company and our transition towards sustainable transport,” detailed Bruno Blin, president of Renault Trucks. “Renault Trucks asserts itself as a leader in decarbonised mobility, with a 22.4% market share of electric vehicles in the over 16 tonnes segment in Europe.”

Renault Trucks is making significant investments to secure a sustainable and innovative future for its business. In 2023, the Volvo-owned company opened the X-Tech Arena Research & Development Centre in Lyon, where 1,000 specialists work in an energy-efficient building to speed up project development. It also launched CampX, a space for fostering innovation through partnerships, especially with startups.

Renault Trucks has also partnered with TotalEnergies to install solar panels over 17 hectares at its Bourg-en-Bresse site, aiming to generate a significant portion of the site’s electricity needs. Finally, the company announced the construction of a new, modern global spare parts distribution centre in Saint-Priest, with a €132 million (£113M) investment to boost its sustainability practices and reinforce its ties to the Lyon area.
